For years we’ve looked at the best ways to give you the tools to focus on your diet and nutrition and this week we hope we’ve gone one step further with our monthly recipe guides
… Even Gordan’s happy!
Here’s an example, give it a go, and please do share if you do! 😀
PS. We’ll be sending these out automatically to all our active clients, but if you would also like to receive this latest guide and your currently not training please do let us know and we’ll get a copy over to you.
Some more geeky stuff…
WHAT’S THE FUSS ABOUT METABOLISM?
Your metabolism is the chemical processes going on inside your body that keep you alive and your organs functioning. Numerous things can determine your metabolic rates such as your age, body size, and gender. You may have found yourself looking at old pictures and saying how slim you once were. This is because when you were younger your metabolic rate was faster, as you get older you tend to gain fat and lose muscle.
Muscle requires more energy to maintain itself than fat cells, so people with a higher muscle to fat ratio tend to have a higher metabolism. This is why we focus on strength training at No1 Fitness because not only is your strength and overall fitness increased but you gain muscle and it’s the muscle gain that helps your body burn more calories long after you’ve left the studio.
Men tend to have a faster metabolism as they have more muscle and less body fat than women on average, which is why men have larger appetites and their daily calorie allowance is higher. But more often than not, the reason you’re putting on weight isn’t because of slow metabolism, but because you’re consuming more calories than you’re burning. It may be hard to accept, but your nutrition is very important when it comes to losing weight and keeping it off.
